AI to Write 90% of Code + BIG UPDATE

In partnership with

Hello readers,

Welcome to the AI For All newsletter! Linus Torvalds poured cold water on the generative AI industry, McDonald’s is adding a smorgasbord of AI technologies, and Dario Amodei disgraced himself once again. Also, what’s the update? Let’s find out!

I’m Done

“Power stays in the shadows.”

Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux and Git, recently said that AI is “90% marketing and 10% reality.” I think this ratio is generous, which makes me more cynical than Linus freakin’ Torvalds. In my cynicism, I sought to tell you what others wouldn’t, to point out the pitfalls and the red flags, and to hold certain people in tech accountable. However, I am now deciding to step away. I know everyone is shocked. Please hold back your tears until the end. I will still influence this newsletter from the shadows. We are taking this newsletter in a new and exciting direction! More on this later …

First, let’s take a look at some stories. Restaurant chain McDonald’s is deploying AI across its locations to improve order accuracy and detect equipment issues before they fail. Say what you will about McDonald’s, but I will commend their multipronged approach. They’re using edge computing, computer vision, natural language processing, and generative AI. So, at least they’re not expecting some AI agent to do everything.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei claimed that AI will write 90% of code in 3-6 months and 100% in a year. The question you should be asking yourself is why is Dario Amodei lying to me? The answer is because he’s desperate to raise money. We know he’s lying because Anthropic is still hiring software engineers. Amodei, who looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, should be ashamed of himself for making such misleading statements. When he is proven wrong in 3-6 months, will anyone hold him accountable?

Looking Ahead

For a while now, this newsletter has been about cutting through the hype, calling out exaggerations, and keeping you informed on things that might have been left out of other AI newsletters. It’s been great fun, but now it’s time for something new.

Rather than focus on what’s not working, we want to highlight what is. AI is being deployed in industries worldwide, solving real problems in automation, robotics, IoT, computer vision, and beyond. That’s where this newsletter is headed: practical AI, real-world impact, and how you can actually benefit from it.

What to Expect

We’ll highlight how AI is impacting industries from logistics and healthcare to retail and manufacturing. We’ll cover not just GenAI, but the full spectrum of AI-driven solutions:

  • AIoT: Where AI meets IoT to automate and optimize physical operations.

  • Computer Vision: The real applications making surveillance, quality control, and automation smarter.

  • Robotics & Automation: AI-powered systems driving efficiency in everything from warehouses to quick-service restaurants.

Expect insights into real implementations, the companies leading the way, and the lessons they’ve learned. Less speculation, more action.

Why This Matters

The AI landscape is shifting from theory to execution. The winners will be those who understand how to apply it – not just those who debate it. This newsletter will help you stay ahead, whether you’re looking to adopt AI in your business or just want to separate the real from the hype.

So stick around – there’s a lot to explore, and we’re just getting started.

📖 What We’re Reading

“Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably hearing a lot about AI. And while most of us have fooled around with LLMs, the data shows that only around 28% of people use generative AI for work regularly. If you’ve never created an AI workflow, maybe you’re even wondering what the big deal is. But here’s the thing: Chances are AI has the potential to streamline and speed up at least one of your work tasks – or maybe even part of your business. Here I’ll help you understand AI workflows, what they can do, and how to set one up for yourself.”
